So, why can’t I update via Tools|Options|Advanced|Software Update?

Yeah that sucks. Thankfully you will be able to in 1.5. I’m using the nightly beta of 1.5 now, and I can update to the newest nightly that way. It grabs some kind of binary diff file and patches what it needs to. Much nicer than redownloading the whole browser every time.
